"SHOOT CHICAGO" STAYING DIGITAL
ICPA on-site photo competition

Two dozen student photojournalists attending the 25th Annual ICPA Convention in Chicago will again get the chance to spend a day shooting
for the Chicago Tribune.

Digital cameras are now the camera of choice for most photojournalists, and the same can be said for most ICPA member schools and the Chicago Tribune. This will be the third year of the competition that photographers will be asked to used digital cameras during the shoot out. Photographers should also bring a USB cable or digital card reader.

In its 15th year, the "Shoot Chicago" competition will allow one photographer from each ICPA member newspaper registered for the convention to shoot a subject in Chicago. The winners may have their photographs published, possibly in the Chicago Tribune.

To participate, shooters must register for Shoot Chicago 2007 selection no later than 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, at the Holiday Inn City Centre, the convention hotel.

To qualify for participation, a student must 1) be registered for the convention, 2) provide her/his own digital photo equipment at the time of registration, 3) present evidence that she/he has been selected to represent her/his newspaper in Shoot Chicago 2007 and 4) be present when the instructions are presented.

The photographers are scheduled to meet Saturday morning, Feb. 17, 2007 with professional photographers for a critiquing session.
