JOBS FAIR SET FOR CONVENTION
Students must sign up by Feb. 13
Jobs fair and the Illinois College Press Association annual convention have become synonymous. For the 13th consecutive year, the Illinois College Press will sponsor a jobs fair at its annual convention, Feb. 17 at the Holiday Inn City Center.
Newspapers being asked to participate include: the Chicago Tribune, the Daily Herald at Arlington Heights, The Times at Munster, Ind., the Fort Wayne (Ind.) Journal-Gazette, the Danville Commercial News, The (Champaign) News-Gazette, and Copley Newspapers of Illinois, which include Peoria, Lincoln and Springfield.
To participate in the 2006 Newspaper Career Program, a student must be registered for the 2006 ICPA convention and must be a staff member of an ICPA member newspaper. Seniors and juniors will receive preference for guaranteed interviews. Freshmen and sophomores may participate if slots remain.
Here's what you need to know:
1. You must arrive no later than 8:30am in the interview area to receive your interview schedule.
2. You must be on staff of a paid ICPA member newspaper and be attending the Convention. Seniors and Juniors will receive preference for up to three guaranteed interviews. Others may participate if slots are available.
3. To participate: email your resume as a .PDF file (please save file as firstname_lastname.pdf) no later than February 10th to ICPA@colum.edu. Resumes must be one page only and indicate career goal (reporting, copy editing, advertising, photographer, design) and class rank.
All participants must be at the hotel’s ballroom no later than 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 17. Interviews will take place from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Informal interviews will follow.
